In the midst of chaos
I find peace.
Turmoil surrounds me
as I breathe.
A moment,
stolen.
Refocussed,
I ready myself
for the plunge.
I enter again
the chaos.

He is Here
Early in the morning;
He is here,
He is here.
When the sun is brightest;
He is here,
He is here.
When the night is falling;
He is here,
He is here.
When the dark is deepest;
He is here,
He is here.
When my heart is joyful;
He is here,
He is here.
When my mind is fearful;
He is here,
He is here.
When I flee in terror;
He is here,
He is here.
When my soul is lonely;
He is here,
He is here.
When I feel unwanted;
He is here,
Always here.
He is here,
He is here.
When the sun is brightest;
He is here,
He is here.
When the night is falling;
He is here,
He is here.
When the dark is deepest;
He is here,
He is here.
When my heart is joyful;
He is here,
He is here.
When my mind is fearful;
He is here,
He is here.
When I flee in terror;
He is here,
He is here.
When my soul is lonely;
He is here,
He is here.
When I feel unwanted;
He is here,
Always here.

You Are Here
You are here,
always here,
constantly.
You don't leave,
you are here
by my side.
You love me
all the time,
you are here.
always here,
constantly.
You don't leave,
you are here
by my side.
You love me
all the time,
you are here.

Lift Your Voices High
Join with me,
shout and sing.
Lift your voices high!
Care not what
others may say.
Lift your voices high!
Cry out with words,
sing through dance.
Lift your voices high!
Paint your love
in colours bright.
Lift your voices high!
Play your music,
play it loud.
Lift your voices high!
Worship Him bold,
worship Him strong.
Lift your voices high!
shout and sing.
Lift your voices high!
Care not what
others may say.
Lift your voices high!
Cry out with words,
sing through dance.
Lift your voices high!
Paint your love
in colours bright.
Lift your voices high!
Play your music,
play it loud.
Lift your voices high!
Worship Him bold,
worship Him strong.
Lift your voices high!

The Judger
How dare you judge me,
you who knows me not.
You think you have the right
since you are so much better than I.
You are obviously
the best person in the world,
utterly without sin or fault!
How dare you judge me,
without knowing my name or situation.
How dare you sneer in my direction,
then pretend I do not exist.
I could have been the person
you were waiting for,
could have added joy to your life
if given a chance
without condemnation.
But you have already burdened me
with false accusations,
so I shall leave you with your sorrows
and take my unwanted gifts as I go.
you who knows me not.
You think you have the right
since you are so much better than I.
You are obviously
the best person in the world,
utterly without sin or fault!
How dare you judge me,

The Evil One
The evil one calls out my name
and offers gifts so tempting.
He whispers promises to me
to meet my heart’s desires.
I cannot see beyond the gifts
believing that I earned them.
With arms outstretched I grab what’s mine
and Satan gently sneaks in.
Everything seems superb at first,
but gifts they quickly tarnish.
My conscience prods my senses ‘til
I realise I’ve been foolish.
By then I truly am entrenched
in thoughts of my own greatness
and do not want to live without
the pleasures I was gifted.
The Shining One calls out my name
and offers freedom tempting.
He whispers truths and promises
to be my heart’s desire.
He weans me from my dependence
on he who is deceitful,
revealing my heavenly gifts
and sets me to my purpose.
and offers gifts so tempting.
He whispers promises to me
to meet my heart’s desires.
I cannot see beyond the gifts
believing that I earned them.
With arms outstretched I grab what’s mine

Unmarried Woman
“an unmarried woman is concerned about the Lord’s affairs: her aim is to be devoted to the Lord in both body and spirit.” 1 Corinthians 7:34
The unmarried woman’s
concern’s are the Lord’s.
She is devoted to Him
in all ways.
So on Him I must focus,
put Him before all.
I must work
for the sake of His kingdom.
As a single young woman
I want to focus on me,
but must put
my desires to one side.
As I await my love story
with all of my heart,
I shall look to my King
for my love.
The unmarried woman’s

She is devoted to Him
in all ways.
So on Him I must focus,

As a single young woman

but must put

As I await my love story
with all of my heart,
I shall look to my King
for my love.

Easter Tale
Watch Him riding on a donkey,
the great and glorious King of Kings.
Lift up your voice, shout your praises
to Him, our Mighty Majesty.
See Him eating with His followers
as He prepares them for their tasks.
Witness this King serving others,
He became servant to mankind.
Look on as His friend betrays him,
handing Him over to His foes.
Notice that He does not struggle
against the trial that was to come.
Hide your face as we condemn Him
and take a murderer in His place.
Cry with shame as we insist that
He is put on a cross to die.
Gasp in surprise as He returns
three days after His painful death.
Thank Him, praise Him, tell the story
of His amazing sacrifice.
the great and glorious King of Kings.
Lift up your voice, shout your praises

The Candle
Burn
You captivate my gaze,
repelling the darkness.
Burn
Mystery and wonder
it can end or support life.
Burn
Nothing but heat
yet strangely alive.
Burn
So much light
in such a tiny flame.
Pyromaniac

Sleepwalking
Sleepwalkers pass by
unseeing, with eyes wide open.
Unknowingly they walk through this life
missing its beauty, challenges and opportunities.
They do not understand that they are asleep.
They do not know how to see.
Wake up sleepwalkers!
Open your eyes to the beauty that surrounds you!
Help your sleepwalkers.
Guide them into the waking world.
unseeing, with eyes wide open.
Unknowingly they walk through this life
missing its beauty, challenges and opportunities.
They do not understand that they are asleep.
They do not know how to see.
Wake up sleepwalkers!
Open your eyes to the beauty that surrounds you!
Help your sleepwalkers.
Guide them into the waking world.

Passionate Heart
Give me a passionate heart Lord,
arise in me a desire to seek you.
Fill me with a restlessness that abates only
when I am in your presence.
May I see your works around me,
in my heart, in those faces I see, in nature's glory.
May I hear you speak in your great book
and your whispers in my ear.
Give me a passionate heart Lord,
to seek you and share you with others.
Fill me with a restlessness
so I labour for you all my life.
arise in me a desire to seek you.
Uneasy
Uneasiness fills me.
Restless, I pace this empty space
within a cluttered room
that reflects the life I have lived thus far.
Is this all I have
to show for 20 odd years
of work?
Useless possessions
and scattered papers
are not who I am.
I know not
what I would like to show the world.
I need to leave a mark
upon those around me.
I need something to show
that my life has not been wasted,
that I have achieved something that matters.
