I Don't Know

I want to understand.
There are so many things
about You that don’t make sense,
so many passages
in the Bible remain obscure to me,
so many of Your promises
and directions
that I can’t comprehend.
I want to know.
I want to be able
to explain them to others,
to appear knowledgeable and wise.
When an unbeliever
asks me questions
I want to be able to answer them
instead of looking like a fool
when I say ‘I don’t know.’
You must have Your reasons
for keeping us in the dark.
I just want You to know
that it’s really annoying.
